When the pandemic emerged, almost everything came to a standstill. We were anxious about our daughter’s future as she was in class 7 then. The CBSESchool in Kolkata, where my daughter reads, immediately took all the necessary actions and started taking the classes online. Like every other child, my daughter also faced difficulty coping with the new way of learning in the beginning. But gradually, with the help of the teachers, she managed with the same and started learning her lessons online. The concerned teacher gave projects that all the children could do without our help for each subject. I found my daughter taking help from Google to complete her projects. The school also conducts extracurricular activity classes online so that our children don’t get bored. My daughter was missing her school friends as, just like her, all the children were stuck at home, and there was no way for them to meet during the lockdown. The school took the initiative and started communication classes where children could enjoy talking to each other and share their thoughts in the presence of their class teacher. During the extracurricular activity classes, all the students were given a chance to show their talent. As my daughter loves music, one day, I found her singing heart out in the music class. She was delighted after she got appreciated by the music teacher and her classmates. Online classes are still going on as the pandemic is yet to go out of our life. Towards the beginning, I was tensed about my daughter’s education, but the way the CBSESchool in Kolkata managed everything, I was relieved. Now, my daughter is in class VIII, and she is well accustomed to the new normal way of learning. I thank her school and the teachers from the bottom of my heart.
